Exhibition of Woodcuts and Screenprints by Oxford artists Jo Huyg and Biddy Hudson.  Biddy’s work is a series of prints influenced by the poems of Carol Ann Duffy. Jo’s work reflects the many identities of inspirational mothers she knows.  Visit the exhibition on Mondays to Fridays from 10 am to 3 pm

Come and welcome Sofia Sanchez Sirias and Milagros Mairena Delgado, two women visitors from Leon, Nicaragua’s University town twinned with Oxford. Sofia is a member of Viva Leon – a women’s cooperative founded to keep the tradition of making Gigantonas alive (giant Carnival puppets). They will talk about their project aimed at raising funds to defend women from violence and provide a safe environment in their City of Leon. The Oxford Gigantona will be paraded at this Brookes Love and Justice Festival event

Exile and Belonging: Creative writing workshop for women

This day is aimed at women interested in creative writing, especially around themes of exile and belonging.  The morning will be a creative writing workshop.  The afternoon will consist of readings from work by refugees and former refugees, together with volunteers from the morning’s workshop, followed by a discussion focused on themes of exile and belonging.  Both Carole Angier and Nikki van der Gaag are writers, and involved in Asylum Welcome, a local organisation working with refugees.
